The Enterprise Data Manager Contact/Company Match Service is a Windows® service application that provides the capability to automatically match contact records to company records within the target database.

Enterprise Data Manager Contact/Company Match can be supplied in several configurations, depending on the environment in which it is to be utilized. MDSI has integrated this service into Aprimo Marketing.

The Contact/Company Match service provides major benefits to users whose strategic goals include maintaining separate contact and company tables, but require reliable linkage between the two entities for tactical marketing purposes.

Contact/Company Match allows users to maintain a strategic group of named companies separate and distinct from contacts. Company records can then be enhanced by third party data augmenters (i.e., D&B) with necessary demographic and firmagraphic data points to meet strategic needs. Contact/Company Match linkages allow for selection of contacts into campaign audiences utilizing corporate criteria to select those contact who are linked to the organization, bypassing the difficulties inherent in storing company related data at the contact level. Its use also completely obviates the danger presented by opening a company table to input from web and other general import traffic.

Contact/Company Match is designed to run from the Windows scheduler and is generally set to run in the early morning hours of the day. During each run sequence, the service processes the database tables to accomplish the following.

  • Subjects both the contact table and the company table to the Enterprise Data Manager cleansing and standardization rules to increase the possibility of a match and insure all records have been cleansed.
  • Selects those contact records for which no company link has been established and creates a recordset for match processing.
  • Compares certain identifying attributes in the contact record to corresponding values in each company record and determines if a match between the two records exists.
  • If a match between the contact record and any given company record is determined to exist, the contact foreign key field is updated with the corresponding company ID value.

This process provides not only linkage services, but also provides for constant cleansing and standardization of values in the database on a daily basis.
